Fees

New applications: Processing fees must be paid when the application is submitted. The payment must be attached to the application form. Refer to the fee schedule for current rates. Check this webpage again just before paying for the up-to-date information.

Current applications: If you are paying additional fees for an application currently being processed at the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the payment must be attached to the letter/e-mail from our office requesting the additional payment.

Economic Class applications:

All applicants in the economic classes must submit their initial application to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Canada. For more information on how to pay, visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website.

Family class applications: All applications for sponsored family class members must be submitted to the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Canada. For more information on how to pay and where to submit your application, refer to the CIC web site.

Bank draft payment instructions:

  • Bank drafts are the only mode of payment accepted for applications made in-person
  • The bank draft must be in Canadian dollars addressed to the: “Receiver General for Canada”. Please take note of the following:
    • Print your name on the back of the bank draft or certified cheque.
    • Only bank drafts containing the name and complete address of the Canadian bank will be accepted.
  • We do not accept personal or company cheques.
  • Bank drafts must be valid for at least six (6) months from the date of issuance.
  • Please ensure that the bank does not forward your bank draft to this office.
  • Your payment must accompany your application.
  • Pay the exact fee for your application (do not add cents).
  • If your application is received at this office without the correct processing fee attached, it will be returned to you.

Bank draft payment instructions for residents of Yemen ONLY:

  • Bank drafts are accepted for applications made in-person
  • The bank draft must be either in Canadian dollars or UAE Dirhams.
  • If you are paying in Canadian dollars, the bank draft should be addressed to the: “Receiver General for Canada”. Please take note of the following:
    • Print your name on the back of the bank draft or certified cheque.
    • Only bank drafts containing the name and complete address of the Canadian bank will be accepted 
  • If you are paying in UAE dirhams, the bank draft should be addressed to the: “The Embassy of Canada”.

Other instructions:                                           

  • Cash payments are no longer accepted by the Embassy effective May 1, 2013. If you wish to apply in-person and pay in cash, please refer to the website of the Canada Visa Application Centre (CVAC) in the U.A.E.
  • A receipt will be issued for each payment received. Please keep the receipt as proof of payment.
  • Processing fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome of the application.
  • Do not send cash. We will not be responsible for cash sent to our office.

Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF)

Applicants for permanent residence can pay the right of permanent residence fee ($490) at the time they submit their application or at a later date when requested. The processing fee is still required when submitting an application.

The following applicants are not required to pay the RPRF:

  • dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor, a child to be adopted, or an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild;
  • protected persons, including Convention refugees.
