Academic relations between Canada and the United Kingdom are strong, dynamic and diverse. Academics with an interest in Canada are located in universities throughout the UK. There are also numerous formal and informal links between Canadian and British higher education and research institutions.
The Canadian High Commission supports university and research links and exchanges between Canada and the United Kingdom and the teaching of university courses with Canadian content. One of the main components of our work is the administration of the Government of Canada's Understanding Canada program with its aim of developing - among scholars and other influential groups - greater knowledge and understanding of Canada, its values and its culture through programs of support for organizations and for individuals.
We are particularly interested in supporting projects and research that have policy relevance for Canada and its international relations and in encouraging activities that reach beyond academia to engage policy makers, NGOs, the private sector and the media. Issues of importance for Canada include:
