Canadian artist Robert Bordo has his first exhibition in London at the Mummery+Schnelle gallery. His striking meditative paintings bridge the gap between abstraction and representation.

In Concert – Violinist Lara St John, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Bringing to the musical stage her "personal charisma and unflagging musical imagination" (Los Angeles Times), Canadian-born violinist Lara St. John joins the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for a second season, performing Paganini’s Violin Concerto No.2, 'La Campanella', on her 1779 “Salabue” Guadagnini. Lara, described as a “high-powered soloist” (New York Times), has performed with orchestras including Philadelphia, Cleveland and Toronto and given recitals throughout the world.

A ZEN LIFE – D.T. Suzuki

An award-winning 77-minute documentary, directed by Canadian Michael Goldberg, about Daisetz Teitaro Suzuki (1870-1966), the influential philosopher, writer and teacher who is credited with introducing Zen Buddhism to the West.

Lorna Goodison – From Harvey River
Prize-winning poet Lorna Goodison's memoir warmly recounts her family's life in her hometown, Harvey River, on the island of Jamaica. Now based in Toronto, Lorna Goodison is one of Canada's most distinguished poets. She is the author of eight books of poetry and two collections of short stories. From Harvey River is published in the UK by Atlantic Books.

Anne-Marie Drosso – In Their Father's Country
A deft and delicate story tracing the lives of two sisters of mixed descent growing up in 1920s Cairo and portraying the bittersweet relationship of two intelligent, complex women forced to adapt to the unexpected. Author Anne-Marie Drosso was born in Cairo in 1951. She left Egypt in her twenties for Canada, where she studied and taught. Her collection, Cairo Stories, was published in 2007.
Andrew Westoll – Surinam
Canadian primatologist turned travel writer Andrew Westoll's Surinam: Stumbling through the dark heart of South America's forgotten jungle is a passionate, beautifully written travel-memoir and eco-narrative. It is published by Old Street.
