Immigration and Visa section

Visa and Immigration Sevices are located at Macdonald House, 38 Grosvenor Street, London W1K 4AA

  • Please note, visa and immigration enquiries are received only in writing via the Contact the Visa and Immigration Section. NOTE: We do not accept enquiries in person.
  • Obtain application forms and instructions for submitting visa applications to go to Canada temporarily or permanently
  • Immigration and Visa Section (new hours as of March 18th, 2013)

    Monday, Wednesday and Friday (Our office is closed to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays).
    8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. excluding holiday closures (may differ from UK bank holidays).
  • Regarding Temporary resident applications (visitor, student and temporary worker) at our London office: Visitor, Student and Temporary Worker applications can be submitted online at any time.

International Experience Canada

Through the International Experience Canada initiative, young UK citizens may travel and work in Canada for a period of up to one year. This is made possible as the UK government recognizes Canada as a participation country under its Youth Mobility Scheme in which young Canadians can experience life in the UK.

lease note that due to the volume of inquiries being received regarding the opening of the 2011 IEC initiative, any inquiry pertaining to information that can currently be found on the IEC section of this website will not be answered by the IEC team.

Please note that the current processing time for an application to the IEC is two (2) weeks from the date it is received at the Embassy of Canada in France and eight (8) weeks from the date it is received at the Visa Section of the department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada at the High Commission of Canada to the UK.

The public enquiries unit provides information for Canadians and non-Canadians to get a taste of home, or learn more about Canada. It handles all general public enquiries except for passports, consular, immigration and media. Contact us

Commercial and Economic division

We provide assistance to Canadian companies exporting to the UK or establishing a business presence in the market. Our services range from assessing the market and providing qualified contacts to helping resolve problems.

  • Our Investment Team can assist UK-based investors in establishing or expanding their investments in Canada, exploring joint ventures and strategic alliances with Canadian companies, and by introducing them to Canadian government officials.
  • Our Science & Technology Team supports Canadian researchers looking to collaborate with their British colleagues by providing intelligence and helping to arrange visits, fact finding, and promotional seminars.
