Study Permit Application Forms
Please read the Studying in Canada section of our website and the instruction guide provided below carefully before you complete the application forms. The fee for processing your application is not refundable, so make sure you are eligible before you apply. Please note that submitting a completed application and necessary supporting documents does not guarantee that you will receive a Study Permit.
Apply online:
If you are a citizen of, and resident in, one of the participating countries you may be able to apply for your study permit online. Certain conditions apply. Please visit Apply for a Study Permit (from outside Canada) to determine whether you are eligible. Otherwise please follow the instructions below for the regular application process.

You must submit the following completed forms:
- Study plan: Please submit a one page study plan which answers the following questions and includes any other information relevant to the processing of your application:
- Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have been accepted?
- What is your overall educational goal?
- Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence/citizenship?
- What research have you done into studies in your country of residence/citizenship?
- How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence/citizenship?
- What ties do you have to your country of residence/citizenship?
- If it has been more than 2 years since you have left full-time education, please provide your C.V. (resumé).
- In the case of a minor applicant, what are your reasons for studying in Canada? What is your parents’/guardians’ immigration status in their current country of residence?
Provide details of your education history – dates when the course started and ended, the name and address of the school, the course taken, qualification/degree/certificate awarded for the course
If applicable, please also submit the following:
- Schedule 1 (IMM 5257); If you are a national of any of the countries listed below, you must complete Schedule 1 and submit it with your application:

Should local police authorities request a letter or document from the High Commission in order to issue a police certificate, this form may be used for that purpose.
