Education Marketing Contractor

The Consulate General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City is seeking an individual contractor to fill a six month contract in Education Marketing.


The program is open to both Vietnamese and Canadian citizens/permanent residents under 30 years of age who have graduated from recognized colleges and universities. The candidate must be eligible to work in Vietnam.


The term is six months commencing in July 2017 with possibility to extend.

Working conditions:

Work hours: 37.5 hours/week (schedule to be confirmed)

Willing and able to adjust working hours to accommodate events on evenings and weekends

Contract Value

The successful contractor will be paid the Vietnamese equivalent of CAD $1,200 per month for a maximum of CAD $7,200 with no deductions. Contractors with Canadian bank accounts may choose to receive fees in CAD.

The Consulate General of Canada is not responsible for medical, housing, repatriation, transportation, food, visa, travel (both international and domestic) or any other expenses for the contractor. The contractor is responsible for ensuring that he or she is covered by a national health plan in Vietnam or by an adequate private insurance policy for the entire duration of the contract including travel time.

The Statement of Work includes the following responsibilities:

  • Website, Email and Social Media Communications: feed Facebook page, provide regular education content and advise on updates as required; assist in organizing/administering the promotional campaigns hosted by the Consulate;  provide assistance with Vietnamese/French translation of content, where appropriate.
  • Education Events:  assist with all aspects in the organization of education events that showcase Canadian education to Vietnamese audiences; represent government department Edu-Canada at education fairs, seminars and information sessions hosted by the Consulate or third parties (e.g. staffing the Consulate’s information booth and giving presentations on Canadian education). Prepare guest lists and assist with distribution of invitations.
  • Public Inquiries and Correspondence: respond to general written and oral information enquiries regarding Canadian education and any other education-related enquiries from the general public.
  • Promotional Marketing Material: Maintain the inventory within the education storage areas; assist with preparation of marketing materials to be used at all public education events. Assist with creation of all promotional marketing materials including flyers, invitations, banners and all electronic promotion.
  • Alumni: engage/liaise with Canadian alumni for different promotional activities and assist in the maintenance of a contact database.
  • Administration: perform other logistical and administrative tasks upon request.


  • Graduation from a recognized university or college;
  • At least one year of experience working or studying abroad
  • Fluent in English and Vietnamese;
  • Familiarity with digital marketing and social media;
  • Professional experience in an office environment;
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; including presentation and translation skills;
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks of different levels of complexity;
  • Detail orientation and ability to perform tasks with care and diligence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, quickly and clearly both orally and in writing in both languages;
  • Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint; 

Preference may be given to applicants that demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Graduation from a Canadian university or college;
  • Knowledge of international education;
  • Knowledge of Canada;
  • Knowledge of photography and film making;
  • Knowledge of French, both oral and written;
  • Experience with digital marketing and Facebook management in a commercial environment;
  • Experience with design of promotional materials
  • Creativity and flexibility;
