Simplified Renewal / Adults only

To be eligible, you must meet ALL of the following conditions:

  • You are submitting a previous regular Canadian passport that:
    • Is still valid or expired as of February 1st, 2019; (if you don’t qualify, go to 2  General Application/Adults)
    • Was/is valid for five (5) or ten (10) years;
    • Is not damaged; and
    • Was never reported lost or stolen;
    • You were at least 16 years of age at the time of your previous application;
    • Your name on the renewal application is exactly as it appears on page 2 of the submitted passport; and

To apply, all you need to provide is:

  • Form PPTC 482;
  • Your most recent passport;
  • Proof of payment of the required fee or credit card authorization (we no longer accept cash);
  • Two (2) recent identical photos (information in Spanish only);

If you do not qualify for Simplified Renewal, you must submit the general application.

General application / adults 

  • Form PPTC040 completed and signed by an eligible guarantor (eligible bearer of a valid Canadian passport or eligible professionals as per instructions);
  • Original proof of Canadian citizenship (Canadian birth certificate or citizenship certificate);
  • Valid id (Canadian, Argentine, Paraguayan, etc.) / original or photocopy signed by the guarantor;
  • Previous Canadian passport (original);
  • Proof of fee payment (no cash accepted) or credit card authorization;
  • Two (2) recent identical photos (information in Spanish only)(one of them signed by the guarantor);

Children (under 16):

  • Form  PPTC042  completed and signed by an eligible guarantor (eligible bearer of a valid Canadian passport or eligible professional as per instructions);
  • Original proof of Canadian citizenship (Canadian birth certificate or citizenship certificate);
  • Valid id (Canadian, Argentine, Paraguayan, etc.) / original or photocopy signed by the guarantor;
  • Previous Canadian passport (original);
  • If the child has no previous Canadian passport, original long firm birth certificate including the names of the parents.  If the birth certificate is not in English or French, please enclose translation;
  • Proof of fee payment (no cash accepted) or credit card authorization;
  • Two (2) recent identical photos (information in Spanish only)(one of them signed by the guarantor);
