Canadian days in Prague takes place in Prague on November 7-9, 2018. This is an annual event that promotes awareness of Canadian film, culture and values to the Czech general public. This year, hockey is our theme, given the passion that Canadians and Czechs share for the sport.
The Festival Canadian Days in Prague takes place under auspices of the mayor of Prague.
5:00 p.m. – Municipal Library of Prague, Small Hall
Attiya was 16 when she met slightly older Steve in high school. It was the first serious relationship for both of them and the couple soon began living together. But it almost cost the young woman her life. This intimate film sensitively examines the process of healing souls damaged by domestic violence, seeks its causes and how a vital debt can be repaid to the victims.
The movie is screened within the project “Promítej i ty!”

The Nagano Tapes features the stirring underdog story of how the Czech Republic shocked the world in Nagano, capturing gold at the first Olympic ice hockey tournament to feature pros from the NHL for the first time.

The sleepy industrial town tucked away in a small bay doesn’t offer young Léo much chance of self-fulfilment. She despises her life with her mother and stepfather while nurturing romantic notions about her distant father. The captivating Karelle Tremblay is in the role of the spontaneous yet defiant young woman. The movie made its way to the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2018 main contest.

The Toronto quartet called So Long Sever (Neil Hendry –guitar, William Lamoureux – violin, Ravi Naimpally - tabla, and Tim Posgate- banjo) challenges the conventional ideas of the boundaries and parameters that music industry categories impose. The band consists of expert players fusing the inspirations of India, West Africa, Spain and Brazil to make dynamic and intriguing original music that draws on folk, chamber music and jazz. What could be more Canadian than such multicultural band?
