CFLI Projects in Jamaica in 2014-15

In 2014-15 the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives in Jamaica supported a total of 3 projects worth a total of $83,000 CDN.

Project: Finding My Voice – Prevention of Sexual Violence among Children

Recipient Organization: RISE Life Management

Facilitators role play how to refuse peer pressure.
Students solve the puzzle to learn refusal skills.

Project: Promoting Economic Stability for Residents in Inner-city Communities

Recipient Organization: Junior Achievement Jamaica

Jamaica’s Biztown allows students to practice money management and business based on 4-weeks of in-school training.
Grade 5 students count their day’s earnings at the Biztown tuck shop.

Project: Accountability through Command Responsibility

Recipient Organization: INDECOM

Minister of National Security, Peter Bunting, addresses the senior ranks of the Jamaican Constabulary Force and INDECOM on the issue of Command Responsibility.
The Independent Commission of Investigations is responsible to undertake investigations concerning actions by members of the Security Forces and other agents of the State that result the abuse of the rights of persons.
