Exhibition Announcement

The Embassy of Canada presents Picture Diary: Princess Takamado Painting Exhibition.

The Embassy of Canada art gallery was named the “Prince Takamado Gallery” seven years ago this April. Among the numerous exhibitions hosted in the gallery since the naming, two which were very well received were made possible due to the cooperation of the Prince Takamado family: Memories of Canada – Prince Takamado’s Visual Legacy (2004) and Canadian Aboriginal Arts from the Prince and Princess Takamado Collection (2009). In commemoration of the seventh anniversary of the gallery’s naming, we are pleased to present an exhibition of oil paintings by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado.

The new exhibition, entitled Picture Diary, consists of nineteen paintings by the Princess on motifs such as objects associated with the late Prince or the couple’s children and the family’s various activities over the years. Each work is a vivid portrayal of the deep warmth and love that the Princess feels for her family.
