E.H. Norman Speaker Series

Literary Dialogue between Canadian and Japanese Women Writers “What’s On the Minds of Women Writers Today?”

The Embassy of Canada's E.H. Norman Speaker Series introduces Canada and showcases Canadian perspectives through guest lectures from academics, authors, and artists.

Our guest at the second in a series of literary dialogues between Canadian and Japanese women writers will be Madeleine Thien, a Vancouver-based author whose career has taken her around the world. Her book Do Not Say We Have Nothing won two prestigious Canadian awards in 2016: the Governor General’s Literary Award and the Scotiabank Giller Prize. It was a runner up for the Booker Prize in the United Kingdom as well. This event will feature a dialogue between Japanese and Canadian women writers arranged in cooperation with the Women Writers Committee of the Japan PEN Club. They will discuss issues on the minds of women writers today and share their thoughts on future trends.

Please join us for what promises to be a very interesting event.
