Canadians in need of emergency consular assistance in the Netherlands should call the Embassy at +31 (0) 70-311-1608 between the hours of 9:30-12:30 on weekdays or the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa 24/7 at 00-1-613-996-8885.

Beginning June 2, 2020, in addition to continuing to receive applications by mail, the Embassy’s Consular section will accept in-person appointments for the following services only:

  1. Urgent passport/citizenship applications for essential travel
  2. Urgent notarial services, for which IND/municipal (gemeente) documentation must be provided in advance.

For urgent passport applications, please indicate your travel date on the application form, and include your confirmed travel itinerary.

For non-urgent passport and citizenship applications, the Embassy’s Consular section will accept mail-in applications only.

You will not be admitted to the Embassy without a confirmed appointment.

Should you have an urgent passport or citizenship request, and are unable to book an appointment online, please contact the consular section at nl.consular@international.gc.ca

COVID-19 hygiene measures at the Embassy of Canada to the Netherlands:

In accordance with the Government of the Netherlands’ health measures, please stay home if you, anyone in your household or anyone you have been in contact with is displaying COVID-19-like symptoms, or mild flu-like symptoms. If you are in a vulnerable group due to your age or underlying health issues, please do not make an appointment at the Embassy.

Those who appear to have COVID-19- or flu-like symptoms upon arrival at their appointment at the Embassy will be asked to reschedule.

If you are confirmed for an in-person appointment at the Embassy for an urgent matter, you must adhere to the following health measures, in addition to regular Embassy security protocols:

  1. Wear a face covering to your appointment.
  2. Arrive alone. Only one person per appointment will be allowed to enter the Embassy. Anyone accompanying you will be asked to wait outside the Embassy grounds.
  3. Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer before seeing the consular official. Embassy staff will direct you to do so upon your arrival.
  4. Bring only what you need to submit your application. Refrain from bringing large handbags or unnecessary belongings as you may be asked to leave them outside the building.

If you cannot adhere to the measures listed above, please reschedule your appointment until you are able to do so.
