Lost/Stolen Belongings in Spain

Have you had your personal effects lost or stolen in Spain?

Remember to:

  • Cancel your credit cards and debit cards.
  • Obtain a police report declaring the loss/theft of your personal effects.
  • Contact your airline company if you need to change your travel plans.

Money transfers

  • Funds can be transferred from virtually anywhere in the world through MoneyGram and Western Union. The funds can be picked up at MoneyGram locations in Spain once photo ID has been presented. Funds sent via Western Union can be picked up at Spanish post offices (“Correos”) and participating banks once photo ID has been presented.

How to replace your passport

Canadian citizens must have a valid passport whether travelling within the European Union (EU) or beyond EU Borders. Please contact the Embassy or one of the Consulates to find out how best to proceed in your particular situation. You will need:

  • Completed application forms
  • Police report: A police report can be filed at any police station in Spain.
  • Picture ID (if available)
  • Passport fees
