Pensions

Canadian pensions to residents in Spain are paid in euros and can be deposited directly into a Spanish bank account.

Spanish pensions are detailed on the Pensioners section of the Spanish Social Security website.

Old Age Security (OAS) Program

The Old Age Security Pension is a monthly pension payable on the month following your 65^th birthday. Eligibility is based on your period of residence in Canada.

If you lived in Canada for 20 or more years after your 18^th birthday, then you can apply for your pension directly through International Operations at Service Canada. If you lived in Canada for less than 20 years after your 18^th birthday, please file your application through the Spanish social security office.

Canada Pension Plan (CPP)

Benefits under this plan include the retirement pension, disability benefits and survivor benefits.

Eligibility is based on contributions made to the plan. If you worked in Canada after 1966, the year on which the plan was started, you would have made contributions based on your earning from employment or self-employment. You may well be eligible to receive a pension under the scheme.
