The High Commission of Canada launches the 2021-2022 Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) call for proposals
February 22, 2021 - The CFLI is a program that supports small-scale, high-impact projects conceived and designed predominantly by local partners in Sri Lanka and Maldives. This enables Canada to respond to local needs by working at the community level. Equally important, the CFLI serves to strengthen Canada’s relationships with civil society and local communities and to build networks of contacts in countries around the world.
The CFLI is always looking to fund innovative projects, which deliver measurable results. The 2021-2022 call for proposals will focus on the following thematic priorities:
- Inclusive governance: including diversity, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
- Environment and climate action: focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water and/or plastic waste management.
- Growth that works for everyone: including women’s economic rights as it relates to entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial training.
- COVID-19 related projects: including providing relief to vulnerable communities impacted by COVID-19 and supporting recovery efforts.
Advancing the rights of women and girls is a high priority for Canada. We give priority to projects developed within a gender equality framework. Weight will be given to proposals that cut across multiple priorities.
