The work of Canadian artist Amélie Desjardins is being exhibited at Galleri Eklund in Stockholm until 20th September 2013.

Québec-born Desjardins is a visual artist inspired by the sea and its surroundings. Featuring images originating from her travels in Japan, South-East Asia, Oceania and the Americas in a style which can be described as romantic with a shade of nostalgia, she creates works using recycled wood from boats, docks and bridges. Her artistic process integrates naturally-aged materials such as teak and mahogany to capture the inherent beauty she sees in them.

Since 2005, Desjardins’ work has featured in numerous exhibitions in Canada, the United States and Europe. She also participates regularly in circus performances and has performed as the opening act for the world-renowned Québec-based Cirque du Soleil in Tokyo, Las Vegas and Montreal.
