The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service organised a Canada-Nordic Bioeconomy Dialogue at the biennial World Bioenergy event in Jönköping, Sweden on 3rd June, featuring speakers from the CanBio delegation attending the event. CanBio is the dynamic voice for the Canadian bioeconomy with a mission to promote industry development of bioenergy, biomaterials and biochemicals.

CanBio board member and delegation leader Patrick Guidera from research institute Alberta Innovates presented on the latest developments of the Canadian bioeconomy to an audience of Nordic industry and research representatives. This was reciprocated by summaries of bioeconomy developments in Finland and Sweden and followed by a discussion session on the potential for collaboration in the evolving bioeconomy sectors. At a networking session, Canadian Institute of Forestry CEO John Pineau presented Canadian sustainable forestry practices.

The Canada-Nordic Bioeconomy Dialogue successfully contributed to an exchange of ideas and created the potential for future collaboration. An opportunity for follow-up meetings will be provided at CanBio’s annual conference on 9th-11th September in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
