You can apply online for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit.

Special measures – COVID-19

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has implemented special measures to help temporary and permanent residents and applicants affected by COVID-19.

We are only processing the following cases:

  • Applications for permanent resident travel documents for individuals who have recently left Canada;
  • Applications for visitor visas for individuals who are immediate family members of Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada; and
  • Applications for visitor visas for individuals who have urgent humanitarian and compassionate reasons for travelling to Canada.

Applicants who are in a situation described and who need to urgently travel to Canada for an essential (non-discretionary) purpose, can email IRCC Ankara at for instructions. All other applicants must apply online.

Visa Application Centre (VAC)

Most VACs have temporarily closed or are operating with limited hours and services. Check the VAC website for further updates.

If you have a case specific enquiry contact IRCC. Do not go to a visa office or the Embassy.

Request for passport return

If your passport is at the Embassy or at the VAC, and you need it urgently please write to and indicate in the subject line “Passport return”. Otherwise, we will hold on to it until regular processing is resumed.
