COVID-19: Immigration and visa service disruption

The Visa and Immigration Section of the Embassy of Canada to Turkey does not accept visa and immigration applications in person, by e-mail or by mail and does not provide biometric collection services.

You can apply online for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit.

Special measures – COVID-19

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has implemented special measures to help temporary and permanent residents and applicants affected by COVID-19.

We are only processing the following cases:

  • Applications for permanent resident travel documents for individuals who have recently left Canada;
  • Applications for visitor visas for individuals who are immediate family members of Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada; and
  • Applications for visitor visas for individuals who have urgent humanitarian and compassionate reasons for travelling to Canada.

Applicants who are in a situation described and who need to urgently travel to Canada for an essential (non-discretionary) purpose, can email IRCC Ankara at ANKRAIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca for instructions. All other applicants must apply online.

Visa Application Centre (VAC)

The Visa Application Centres (VAC) in Turkey have reopened and will operate on a reduced schedule with reduced services. Please visit the VFS Global website for more details. In the interest of staff and client safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic, special handling procedures may cause delays in the reception of your documents. We thank you for your understanding.

Request for passport return

If your passport is at the Embassy or at the VAC, and you need it urgently please write to ANKRAIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca and indicate in the subject line “Passport return”. Otherwise, we will hold on to it until regular processing is resumed.
